ANWO RECENT ACHIVEMENT
The Anti Narcotic Welfare Organization is very much satisfied with the out come of Anti Smoking and Pan or Gutka uses in Schools, Collages and other education institutions among the students. Higher Education Department awarded this Project to ANWO. Its first inaugural program was conducted in Sir Syed Govt Girl; Collage on March 26, 2005 . The occasion was presided by Noble Professor Raees Ahmad Alvi, EDO Higher Education CDGK and the Chief Guest of the Ceremony was honorable Brig. Muhammad Farooq Shaukat, Force Commander Anti Narcotic Force Sindh. The occasion was a complete success and ANWO is very much indebted to the staff and students of Sir Syed Government Girls College for cooperation to organize this program.
The results of this program were very encouraging as the students and staff very closely follows the speeches done on this occasion, an objective examination was taken after the messages on the subject were delivered. A result of this test shows the deep concentration of the students and their interest to raise voice against Smoking and uses of Pan & Gutka. The most important achievement of this first program is the announcement made by Prof. Raees Alvi to make Educational Institutions “Drugs and Tobacco Free Zones”. This announcement is officially implemented through official circular given to all Collages and concerned Government Authorities to “Prohibit” all type of Tobacco sales within 50 meters area around all collages in Karachi .
